The focusses of my research activity is on studying the effect of extreme weather events such as marine heat waves, temperature spikes, and salinity variations on pre-coralligenous and coralligenous communities. In addition, I investigate the cascading effects that the action of these stressors can exert, influencing for example the expansion of the distribution ranges of some species. My Phd project carries out manipulative and correlative experiments in the field and the laboratory using ecophysiological techniques including innovative methods to measuring organisms and communities responses through the use of key functional and life history traits.
